Die Sprachreise nach England, Sprachkurs mit Privatunterkunft, ist gebucht. Bei Privatunterkunft drängen sich bei vielen die Fragen auf; “Muss ich meiner Gastfamilie ein Gastgeschenk mitnehmen? Und wenn ja, was nehme ich da am besten!? Schließlich wohne ich für eine oder mehrere Wochen bei einer Familie. Kann ich da mit lehren Händen auftauchen oder lieber nicht?”.
In diesem Blogbeitrag nutzen wir die Gelegenheit, dies zu klären.

Es ist nicht vorgeschrieben dass Sie Ihrer Gastfamilie etwas mitbringen und somit keine Bedingung.

Wenn Sie sich trotzdem dazu entscheiden etwas zu schenken haben wir hier ein paar Inspirationen zusammengetragen.
Ein beliebtes Gastgeschenk ist immer ein Bildband aus der Heimatstadt oder deiner Gegend. Oder etwas typisches aus der Heimatstadt wie zum Beispiel: aus Berlin ein Stück der Mauer oder die berühmten Ampelmännchen. Aus Lübeck Marzipan, aus München ein Maßkrug oder von einem Nordseeort ein Flaschenschiff. Der Fantasie sind keine Grenzen gesetzt.
Vielleicht für den Gastvater ein gutes Deutsches Bier und für die Gastmutter einen leckeres Wein. Alkohol ist in England ziemlich teuer und wird daher mit Freude entgegen genommen.
Süßigkeiten aus Deutschland sind auch immer beliebt. Egal ob zartschmelzende Schokolade oder fruchtige Gummibärchen.
Zur winterlichen bzw. weihnachtlichen Jahreszeit sind auch Christstollen ein sehr beliebtes Gastgeschenk.
Für was Sie sich auch immer entscheiden, der Gedanke zählt.

Kurz gesagt: Ein Gastgeschenk ist kein MUSS, aber es ist eine liebe Geste die das Zusammentreffen verschönert!

Noch ein kleiner Hinweis: Ein NOGO in England sind Zigaretten. Rauchen zählt in England schon fast als ungehörig. Außerdem sind Zigaretten extrem teuer!

Simone Bugeja is 42, lives with her partner Paul Roper who is 51 and her daughter Jessica who is 20. Simone works in the travel business and is also the production manager of a local media programme. Paul is English and a sea captain by profession. Her daughter Jessica works in a local bank and speaks five languages.

The family live is an apartment in the centre of Gzira not far from the Gzira school. They opened their home to students for the first time in 2002 and have not looked back since. They love having an international mix of students all year round and it also helped Jessica, who was 13 at the time, have a multicultural experience in her own home.

The Bugeja family says that they feel that their commitment is not only to the students and the school but also representing Malta as a whole. They feel responsible towards the students and their families knowing that they are in a caring and happy environment whilst learning English at the same time.

They also get lots of satisfaction from the fact that they have repeat students in their home and believe that Malta is safe and ideal place to have fun whilst studying.

Ms. Carmen Gelfo is 49 years old and works in sales at a uniform company. Her partner Victor is 63 years old and a mechanic. Her daughter Pamela who is 32 years old, her husband Kevin 35 years old and their 3 children Noah 7, Zeon 4 and baby Naledi only 5 months old all live with Mrs. Carmen Gelfo and her partner. Kevin is an electrician and Pamela works in the home.

They all live in a large flat in Sliema, very close to school and the sea. They have been hosting for the past 12 years and love it because they get to know people from different countries and learn different cultures. Family Gelfo has made a lot of friends throughout these past 12 years, they also visit some of their past students when they are abroad. They also believe that it is better for their children’s upbringing to be used to different opinions, religions and way of life.

They love cooking pasta with different sauces for students so that all of them can pick their own buffet style.

The family love travelling and going to Gozo to relax when possible.
